Hungary has a long tradition of horsemanship and horses are still very much a part of rural life. It is not uncommon to see horse drawn carts and carriages used for transport in the villages. We provide tailor made and package horse riding holidays in northern Hungary, in the Matra protected area at the base of Kekesteto "blue mountain" the highest point in Hungary. Our horse riding holidays are suitable for all abilities from complete beginners to experienced riders and take in some of the most stunning scenery in Hungary as we ride up into the hills of the Matra national park and across the meadows and vineyards of Heves county. Horse riding here is simply stunning, with a ride anywhere policy you will be amazed at the amount of land available to ride on, ride for hours without seeing a road or a car! Hungary's countryside is a patchwork of fields, meadows and forests all linked by forest trails and dirt tracks that are there for all to use, with no fences or gates to navigate. Our riding holidays are the perfect way to relax, have fun and experience the real Hungary! From only Ł312 they also offer great value for money!
We offer riding holidays from two locations. The Cifra stables and the Pheasant estate.
If one of our standard horse riding packages doesn’t suit you we can put together a completely individual riding package for you. Any combination of morning, afternoon and all day rides can be put together to make a horse riding holiday completely tailored to your needs. We can offer self-catering holidays based at the stables themselves or at one of our self catering cottages. We can arrange B&B accommodation at either the Matyas Guest house or the Hanga guest house. If you choose to stay in either the self catering cottages or the Hanga guest house we would recommend hiring a car as they are about 2 miles from the stables. We aim to be as flexible as possible and want our riding holidays to be the best. So why not come and find out what makes Hungary such a special place to ride. There are also many shows that take place throughout the year from local shows demonstrating the bare back riding skills of the ”Csikosok” of the Puszta to large scale productions like “Appassionata”.

The Cifra stables enjoy a picturesque location on the northern side of the Matra mountain range. Rides here cover varied terrain from open meadows and dirt tracks to forest paths up into the mountains. The horses and riding here suit all abilities with plenty of opportunities to trot, canter, and gallop. Details of the Cifra stables.

We are now able to offer an apartment situated in the old groom and carriage drivers quaters in the upper floor of the Cifra Stables building. The apartment comprises of two, big, twin bedrooms, both en suite with new shower rooms, a shared kitchenette with basic cooking facilities and a large, shared living room with a settee and a table for 4.
The apartment is rented on a self catering basis, however if you don't fancy cooking there are 4 restaurants of different price ranges next door to the stables for eating out.

As it is above the stables there is a 24 hour guard on duty and secure parking within the grounds of the stables is also available free of charge.
